Choose the first job
Assign the first worker to the task that removes the largest repeated travel cost. A modest worker on a steady gathering or hauling loop can be more valuable than a specialist waiting for rare inputs. Watch one full cycle before leaving the area.
Supply the loop
Workers do not remove material constraints. Place inputs where the station expects them, provide reachable output storage and leave spare capacity. If production stops, inspect the chain from input to output before assuming worker efficiency is the problem.
Match perks to work
Perks are job-specific advantages, not a universal quality score. Match quarrying, logging, factory, combat or writing perks to the corresponding assignment. Keep uncertain community descriptions marked as provisional until the in-game tooltip is checked.
Improve the bottleneck
Add or train workers only after identifying the limiting stage. If the station waits for inputs, improve gathering or hauling; if outputs fill, expand storage or consumption; if the worker is simply slow, then training matters. More workers cannot repair a broken layout.
